    World Jamboree Jamboree 2019 Participants

On the 24th September we had the World Jamboree participant selection, over at the Heath in Runcorn. Overall we had 17 applicants for 9 places.  The young people shown below with their home Groups/Units were the successful Candidates that were selected to represent the District as part of the Cheshire Units going to the event.

    Ben Robinson

    Eleanor Wallington

    Elizabeth Jackson

    Jake Price

    Joshua Pitteway

    Hannah Mountain

    Samuel Darbyshire

    William Black

    William Shaw

The Jamboree will take place on 22nd July – 2nd August 2019 at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, USA, with the lucky participants taking place in Home Hospitality in America or Canada before the event. Before all that happens though there is the small matter of fundraising for the fee to go along to the event. In the region of £3800 each needs to be raised, which means there is plenty of work to be done. The team are just getting underway to start putting together plans for raising the money, this will of course involve many fundraising events. Hopefully as many of you as possible will support the team as they go to help these young people get to the trip of a lifetime.

They have already set up a Twitter feed so that you can their follow progress. if you would like to follow their progress check out their twitter account at

As well as the great news of the 9 youth members going from our District, we also have James Taylor, GSL at the 22nd who will be going to the event as a Cheshire Unit leader, Amelia Riley, Explorer Leader at Antarctic ESU going as part of the Cheshire Unit Leadership team and Emily Lowndes from the 22nd who is going as part of the IST for the event on the Unit support team. We are sure it will be an amazing experience for all involved.

    District Cubs Survival Competition
On the 30th September ,Teams from Cub Packs all over the District descended on Dunham Massey Scout Camp for the Cubs Survival competition. After all of the fun of fire lighting and bivvy den building the eventual competition was won by 26th Warrington East (Padgate) Cub Pack. Well done to them and hopefully they will be back to defend their title at next years event. Watch out for details when they are finalised.
